The human body was made to move. For millennia, our bodies have been our primary tools and modes of transportation. Now, in an age when most processes are mechanized, the foods we eat are farther from the ground they grew in and our lives are highly sedentary, our bodies – these amazing machines that were designed to be in motion – are out of balance.
For many Americans, the nature of our daily work is becoming more and more inactive. It goes against the nature of our very beings. It’s more important than ever to maintain a physically active lifestyle as a cornerstone to optimal health, well-being and independence.
Sports and exercise are part of a balanced, healthy lifestyle. Children who play sports are healthier; get better grades; are less likely to experience depression; and use alcohol, cigarettes, and drugs less frequently than those who aren’t athletes. At all ages, people who make activity a priority in their lives report more positive moods, improved vigor, motivation, self-esteem and mental function.
From a regular walking routine to participating in competitive athletics, the most important thing is to maintain activity regardless of your perceived physical state. We’ll help you maintain that lifestyle with advice on stretching, exercise and training, even sound nutritional choices. These are life-long lifestyle changes that will keep you fit, strong and reduce the chance of injury or re-injury in sports activities and daily life.
