Massage Therapist, Reiki Master
After becoming a licensed Massage Therapist in May of 2005, Michael knew he wanted to specialize in working with cancer patients. Continuing education and volunteer work, both tailored towards building new skills has helped in achieving that goal. He has provided massage for patients and their families at Willamette Valley Hospice as well as cancer patients and their families at Mid-Valley Cancer Care Community. As a volunteer at Salem Hospital, Michael gave massage to cancer patients on the inpatient cancer unit.
Michael’s oncology massage training involved taking the Oncology Massage Course at The Schere Institute of Natural Healing, which included completing a course in Lymphatic Massage that has allowed work with cancer patients who are having lymphatic issues. He was certified in 2005 as a Reiki Master, a massage technique that was developed in Japan allowing work with people who require gentle noninvasive work.
Massage with Michael may include the use of Acupressure, Reflexology, Reiki, Hot Rock Therapy, and/or the use of East Indian Ayurvedic oils, which have therapeutic benefits. Through this thoughtful blending of different techniques, every massage is unique and is sure to keep the client or patient at the heart of each session.
